After the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Peter Jackson is probably one of the most trusted directors on the planet. But even still, when he announced that he would be filming The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in 48 fps, it was met with a lot of skepticism. I like Peter Jackson a lot, but I count myself among the crowd of people who aren’t looking forward to seeing Bilbo Baggins hop around at twice the framerate. Luckily for me, rumor has it that Warner Bros. is planning a limited release with the 48 fps version.

This is a rumor on the Internet, but they turn out to be true more often than you’d think. I’m very open-minded when it comes to film, but what little 48 fps content I’ve seen looked goofy and unnatural. I think the higher framerate needs to be introduced slowly and not in the form of a highly-anticipated blockbuster. I don’t think I’d be able to get invested in the adventures of Bilbo if everything just felt off.
