Have you ever wondered what it would be like if Apple and Microsoft decided to make a television commercial together? What if they decided to promote both the iPad and the Surface tablets at the same time? What would happen when these worlds collide?

Apparently, the answer to those questions is the parody TV ad spot embedded below. You’ve probably noticed that the commercials for the Apple iPad mini feature the new smaller tablet next to a full-size iPad and they’re playing some cutesy tunes together on their respective virtual pianos. The Microsoft Surface ads have been completely different, utilizing the current wub-wub appeal of dubstep.

If nothing else, this creative faux TV commercial really emphasizes the difference in strategy between these two companies. The video concept is by Forest Gibson, the music and filming was by David Zimmermann, and visual effects and editing were done by Steven Hudson. The net result is nothing short of… weird. I wonder what would happen if they threw in a Nexus 7 or Nexus 10. Oh wait, I haven’t seen a Nexus 7 or 10 ad yet.
