The ZTE Axon Phablet is Designed for the North American Market Dylan Duarte July 15, 2015 News If you’re in the market for a phablet and the bigger name companies don’t have what you want, check out the ZTE Axon, a 5.5-inch high-end Android phone that was just revealed today in a New York City press event. If ZTE is a brand that sounds familiar, it’s because they actually have quite a presence in China, where they’re based. You might also know about the ZTE Grand X Plus in Canada. The Axon is their attempt at establishing a better foothold in the US market. While ZTE normally specializes in low-cost, low-end phones for the American market, the Axon sports a quad-HD 2560×1440 pixel display, dual rear cameras, Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with 4GB RAM, and a 3,000mAh battery. It comes with a two-year warranty, another thing the company isn’t known for, and they’re commited to quick Android updates to rival the Nexus line of phones. The Axon is ZTE’s American phone, but is it enough? It provides all the things that we like, but so do all of the name brand high-end phones that it’s emulating. If ZTE wants to make a splash, they need to bring something new, or something really top notch in an affordable price range. The ZTE Axon retails for $449.98 and begins shipping on July 27th.
