Three years ago today, I was sitting in a courtroom fighting tears (and losing), watching my niece and her husband become the legal parents of the three children they had been fostering for the previous year. Today I found myself crying again thinking about it, because it was one of the most amazing things I have ever had the great good fortune to witness. In the four years since we met them, we have seen them go from scared, lost little babies to healthy, thriving, loving, intelligent, and affectionate little people, and I am overwhelmed by the changes in them.
