Tenth-Anniversary iPhone Could Use Iris Scanner Dylan Duarte September 1, 2016 News The tenth anniversary iPhone, which is scheduled to launch in 2017, could scan your iris as a way to verify your identity for unlocking your phone, making payments, etc. It was previously reported that the technology wouldn’t make its way into Apple’s handsets until 2018, but the future waits for no man. Of course this wouldn’t be the first phone with the technology. The Galaxy Note 7 also scans your iris to make sure you’re the one using your phone. According to our own Michael Kwan in his review of the phone, the feature is kind of a pain in the neck. Xintec, the company supposedly manufacturing the iris-recognition chips, refused to comment on whether or not they were making the chips for Apple, but that’s all par for the course. The tenth-anniversary iPhone seems like it’s going to have all the bells and whistles, just be ready to give your peepers a workout. Flying cars have to be right around the corner, right?
