Switch Consoles Flying Off Shelves in Hours, Not Days Dylan Duarte April 27, 2017 News After the Wii U failed to repeat the success of the Wii, Nintendo desperately needed a win, and they’ve got that and more with the Nintendo Switch. According to Eric Bright, Gamestop’s Senior Director of Merchandising, the consoles are selling out in a matter of hours, not days. And he doesn’t see supply catching up to demand any time soon. Bright is insistent that if consumers want a Switch console, they need to be physically quick, catching a shipment before they’re all sold out. Sales haven’t dwindled in the slightest, and Bright doesn’t expect them to for a while. Nintendo partially blamed the Wii U’s drop off in sales on a lack of consistent, quality titles, a problem they’re trying to rectify with the Switch. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild got the console off to a rocking start, and now the release of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is likely to keep that winning streak going strong.
