Sony’s QX10 and QX100 Smartphone Lens Cameras Are Something Else Dylan Duarte September 5, 2013 So here’s a thing. Recognizing the inferior quality of most cellphone cameras, Sony is announced the QX10 and QX100 lens cameras, a pair of devices designed to greatly enhance the photos you capture with your smartphone. The weird thing is that these devices aren’t really just lens attachments for your smartphone. While they clip onto your phone, pair up via NFC and communicate wirelessly via Wi-Fi, they can also function as standalone digital cameras on their right. They’re equipped with their own image sensors that allow for much higher quality photos than a standard smartphone image sensor. They also feature microSD and Memory Stick slots and tripod mounts. They work with both Android and iOS phones. The 18MP QX10 has a smaller image sensor of the two, but has a 10x zoom and a smaller $250 price tag. The 20.2MP QX100 has a larger image sensor but less optical zoom at $500. That’s a monumental deal breaker in my eyes. For that price, that you could purchase a very nice dedicated camera that would not only function better, but you wouldn’t look like a total goofball holding. via TechCrunch Share This With The World!
