Sony to Reveal Their Virtual Reality Headset at GDC Dylan Duarte March 14, 2014 Virtual reality – and I mean the good stuff, the stuff that’s indistinguishable from real life – goes right alongside flying cars as something science fiction has been promising us for years but has yet to deliver. We’re getting closer, though. The Oculus Rift has been impressing people left and right and now Sony is ready to reveal their VR headset at GDC next week. As Edge Online points out, Sony may be the answer to mainstream virtual reality. The Oculus Rift is no doubt an impressive piece of hardware, but it’s not without its faults, and Sony can deliver something cheaper and more convenient to its already established fan base. That might be the push virtual reality needs to go big. It’s hard not to get excited about Sony’s headset. I’d still kill to get my hands on an Oculus headset, and I certainly don’t want them going anywhere, but a big name company like Sony pushing such a niche topic like virtual reality could lead to tremendous things. Or it could all be a spectacular disaster. The gaming world is funny like that. via Edge Online Share This With The World!
