RODE Microphones is holding an international film competition and they have over $70,000 in filmmaking gear (pictured above) that they’re looking to give out to those talented enough to stand out from the crowd. The entry requirements are simple. To enter My Rode Reel, shoot a video of any type (theatrical, documentary, music video, etc) and on any topic of up to five minutes. Here’s where RODE’s promotion comes in: you must use a RODE microphone somewhere in the production and show it in a behind-the-scenes video. Then upload the film and the behind-the-scenes video to YouTube with “My RODE Reel 2014” at the end of the titles. Then, go to the My Rode Reel website and fill out the entry form and you’re in. This must be done between March 1st and May 31st. If you’re already a filmmaker, you can throw a RODE microphone into the mix and do your thing. Running from March until June, the aim of the ‘My RØDE Reel’ contest is to encourage filmmakers from all walks of life to get out in the field, creating films and continually improve their craft. Entrants to ‘My RØDE Reel’ are required to create a short film of five minutes or less, as well as a behind-the-scenes reel that features a RØDE microphone being used during the production of the film.
