Physical Keyboards to Survive BlackBerry’s Transition Dylan Duarte September 29, 2016 News Yesterday, MEGATech New’s Michael Kwan brought the news that BlackBerry is done manufacturing its own smartphones. This doesn’t mean that they’re out of the business, just that their hardware design will be outsourced while they focus on other things. Rest assured, however, that the physical keyboard will not die. According to BlackBerry CEO John Chen, the company still has plans to release smartphones with physical QWERTY keyboards, which makes sense given the fact that they’re pretty synonymous with the BlackBerry brand at this point. Keep in mind that with production and design being outsourced, the keyboards might be different, but they’ll still be there. At this point, especially with all of their struggles, the physical keyboard seems like their strongest legacy. That may seem silly, but for a lot of people that’s an important part of the experience. It’s reassuring to know that it isn’t going away, at least not yet. Share This With The World!
