Pet Rock: Updated, But Still Useless Beth Snyder May 3, 2011 Probably a lot of you are too young to remember the phenomenon known as the Pet Rock. But I remember, and I had one. Had to constantly fight my sister to keep it on my side of the dresser, too. Of course, a Pet Rock does absolutely nothing except sit there, but that’s the beauty of it. Gary Dahl, who created the original, made millions of dollars, and stores couldn’t keep them on the shelf. I find myself wondering if he’s getting royalties from the proceeds of this one. Anyway, as you can see from the picture, the 2011 version of the Pet Rock has a USB connector. Why? Who knows? Maybe because you don’t already have far too many USB devices for as many ports as you have, and you want to make sure one of them is constantly filled. It’s not powered by USB, it doesn’t do anything…it just has a USB cord and sits on your desk. I just realized that it’s because of people like me that people like Gary Dahl made millions of dollars. At any rate, you can pick up your very own USB Pet Rock for right around $10.00 US. Source: The Gadgeteer Share This With The World!
