Could the OnePlus 5 Have 8 GB of RAM? Michael Kwan May 5, 2017 News Remember when the original OnePlus One was dubbed a flagship killer, totally coming out of left field and winning over the hearts of so many tech enthusiasts? We’re on the eve of the company’s next generation device and it looks like it could be even better than initially anticipated, because the OnePlus 5 could be rocking a full 8GB of RAM. Considering that OnePlus is rumored to be making important business decisions based on the importance of lucky numbers, this really shouldn’t come as all that much of a surprise. The number 8 is so much luckier than the number 6, so why not upgrade from 6GB to 8GB of RAM to reap as much of that prosperity as possible? This latest rumor comes by way of a screenshot posted on Slashleaks, which seems to show a phone with 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM. Presumably, though, there will still be a slightly cheaper model with 64GB of storage and 6GB of RAM. But you’ll want the bigger one to skip the unlucky “4” in 64 and maximize with as many 8s as you can, including the Snapdragon 835. The rest of the spec sheet, as you might recall, positions the OnePlus 5 as a legitimate contemporary to the Galaxy S8 from Samsung. In addition to the rumored 8GB of RAM, you’ll also get a 5.5+ QHD+ display, 13MP dual lens rear camera, 3600mAh battery and Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Just don’t believe some of the “product pages” that have been making their way around the Internet lately, claiming that you can pre-order the OnePlus 5 now. It’s not available yet. We do expect to see a formal announcement and subsequent launch toward of the end of next month. Seeing how the OnePlus 3T is priced at $439, the OnePlus 5 should hopefully stay below the $500 threshold to start too. Share This With The World!
