I’ve had my Nintendo Switch for a little over a month now and, as much as I love it, I have a couple of gripes. First, the Joy-cons need to be attached to the main console in order for them to charge. Second, the friend interactions can be severely limited. The newly released Nyko Clip Grip Power for Nintendo Switch solves both of those problems, while adding in some extra convenience too.

The Nyko Clip Grip Power is fundamentally similar to the regular controller grip that comes with your Switch, but it also comes with a detachable (and adjustable) arm for mounting your smartphone. This is just in time for Friday’s launch of Splatoon 2 and the Nintendo Online App. This will make it far easier for you to interact with the mobile app while playing with your friends. Remember that voice chat is powered through the Online App.

But wait. There’s more. Hidden inside this handy controller grip is a 3,000 mAh internal battery. Press the button on the front and it’ll start charging your Joy-cons. Attach a USB cable to the back and you can also use the internal battery to charge your smartphone or even your Switch. That’s the “Power” part of its name. The hidden compartment in the middle stores up to seven Switch cartridges and two microSD cards. Pretty handy!

While the product listing on Amazon is showing a release date of August 1st, the press release indicates that the Clip Grip Power is launching today, so hopefully that will update soon. It is available for purchase right now through the Nyko online store, if you prefer. In both cases, it’s listed at $24.99 MSRP.
