Nintendo has released the first update for their Switch console since the Day One update that was available at launch. Does this update bring with it the Virtual Console? Nope. The companion app? Negative. The premium version of the Nintendo’s online service? Negatory. Is that a word?

No, this update doesn’t bring any new features with it, but what it does bring is “general system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.” Updates are always exciting, especially when you know new stuff is on its way in the future, but behind-the-scenes tweaks and improvements are rarely ever a bad thing. The Switch is still new, and Nintendo needs to release updates like this to finish getting the kinks out.

The update will download automatically in the background and you’ll be asked to install it when it’s done. The Virtual Console does not yet have a release date, but the mobile app is scheduled to be released this summer, and the beefed-up online service (with free games) will hit this fall.
