Remember the 1990s? Remember how popular certain games got and then how everyone tried to clone them? Street Fighter paved the way for everything from Fatal Fury to ClayFighter to Killer Instinct. And Mario Kart eventually set the path for Diddy Kong Racing, Sonic Drift, and even Little Big Planet Karting. Well, it’s happening again, this time with Nickelodeon Kart Racers for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

As you might suspect, this yet another cartoony kart-racing game that clearly borrows a lot of its inspiration from the Nintendo franchise. Just like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Switch, you can also customize the karts here with power-ups and special attacks.

While there isn’t a specific mention of exactly how many characters will make the final cut, they do say that they’ll be pulled from 12 “iconic” Nickelodeon series. These include SpongeBob Squarepants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Rugrats, and Hey Arnold, among others. I hope they put Phil and Lil in the same kart Double Dash style. As can be expected, the 24 tracks are also themed after the same Nick series, like Tommy Pickle’s house and the NYC sewers of TMNT fame.

Gameplay includes both co-op and local multiplayer, plus team-based co-op multiplayer for “devastating fused attacks.” And then apparently there’s this whole “slime” element to it, because apparently kids these days are really into slime for some reason. Just look at Splatoon.
