Mutt’s Day Beth Snyder July 31, 2011 Yep, this is exactly what it sounds like. Half-breed, mixed-breed, anything other than purebred dogs. I’ve known several purebred dogs in my life, and while they all have something special, I have always been partial to mutts. Maybe because, like me, they refuse to be categorized. Maybe because they seem more real, more down-to-earth, than a hoity-toity purebred. I don’t fit in with the champagne and caviar crowd, I’m more of a beer and Cheetos kind of girl. And that’s what mutts are to me…dogs you can throw around and wrestle with, dogs that will love you unconditionally, dogs that tend not to have the physical ailments often associated with being inbred for decades (if not centuries). So…today we celebrate the mutt. I’m good with that.
