If you spend any amount of time at either rock concerts or other really loud places, you need one of these. I need several, because I’ll want to wear it more than one day a week. How many times have you gotten to the end of a concert, especially now that every phone has a camera (and you know you’re using it even though the venue doesn’t allow it), only to find your battery completely dead? Now you’re stuck outside some arena somewhere. And if you were being responsible, you can’t drive home, so you need to call a taxi. Here is an end to your woes.

Orange, already well-known for their musicians’ equipment, has been working on the problem of charging phones that have short battery life when there simply is not a convenient place to plug in your charger. What they’ve come up with is the Sound Charge T-Shirt. It’s a shirt that features a special piezoelectric film which converts sound waves into an electric charge that is stored in a battery which in turn is used to recharge your phone. Seriously. It takes loud noise (the louder the better) and uses it to charge your phone. It’s almost like magic!

These aren’t available just yet…but they’re testing them this year at Glastonbury to see if they work as well in the field as they do in the lab. Keep your eyes open; I know I will.
