MEGATech Showcase: Geek Up Your Kitchen Beth Snyder May 13, 2016 Features Today we’re going to look at some ways to more creatively serve some of my favourite things: cookies, mufffins, and sandwiches! Imagine how jealous your friends and co-workers (or your kids’ friends, I guess, although I tend to think more in an adult frame of reference) will be when you open your lunch bag and produce a sandwich shaped like a Stormtrooper or cookies that look like Ewoks. It’d be a fabulous way to make your lunches fun. Up first are the cookie cutters you see above, which are officially known as Star Wars Rebel Friends Endor Cookie Cutters. They come in a pack of two, one each chibi versions of an Ewok and Mon Calamari. They’re made of BPA-free ABS plastic, and are neither microwave nor dishwasher safe. The Ewok measures 3″ wide by 3 1/2″ tall while the Mon Calamari measures 3 1/4″ wide by 4″ tall. Regular retail is $9.99 US per set, but they’re on sale now for $4.99 US. Also available for the same price is the Hoth set with a Wampa and a Tauntaun, or for $7.49 US (on sale from $14.99 US) is a set of six with Luke, Leia, Yoda, Chewie, C-3PO, and R2-D2. Source: 7 Gadgets These are fun! They’re actually custom-3D-printed cookie cutters of your face, or someone else’s face, or your dog’s face… really whatever you want. They come from an Etsy shop in Hungary so shipping is a bit steep (about $19.00 US), but they’re really, really cool. Prices vary depending on what you’d like, starting at $40.00 US for a logo cookie cutter and going through $70.00 US for a couples picture. If you just want a single face or a pet, it’ll be $50.00 US. Source: Incredible Things If you’re going to make a bunch of cookies, you’ll need somewhere to store them unless you plan to sit down and gorge yourself silly. Why not make it an R2-D2 cookie jar? This one even talks! Well, “talks” is probably not the word I was looking for, but it does beep and boop, which is of course how R2 communicates. It measures 9″ x 9″ x 9″, and requires three 1.5v AG13/LR44 button cell batteries (included). I’m sure you know this, but you should not put R2-D2 in the dishwasher. If he gets dirty, gently wash him by hand. Cost is a mere $29.99 US. Source: 7 Gadgets Moving on to muffins… These paw-shaped muffin pans are adorable, aren’t they? You can make treats for yourself or for your canine companion in this silicone muffin pan. They actually come in four different varieties: cake pan, muffin pan, ice tray, and oven mitts. Add this delightful muffin pan to your collection for $36.00 US. Source: 7 Gadgets Probably I should have put the sandwich shapers ahead of dessert, but I’ll most likely be eating them in this order anyway so it makes sense. This one will transform your boring old PB&J sandwich into the Millennium Falcon! It only measures 2 1/4″ square, but you can always pack the extra to eat as well. It’s even got a stencil so you can add detail to your sandwich. Cost is $17.99 US. Source: Geek Alerts If the Millennium Falcon isn’t your style, how about a Stormtrooper? Same basic thing as the one above, but in the shape of a Stormtrooper helmet. This one also has a stencil so you can add detail, and makes a 2 1/4″ square pocket sandwich. Same price as the other one, too, at $17.99 US. Source: Geek Alerts R2-D2 kitchen storage! What does that have to do with cookies, muffins, and sandwiches, you ask? You need flour and sugar to make the first two, and utensils to make all of them, of course. I can justify anything if you give me a minute. This set of three ceramic canisters comes in three different colours so you can tell them apart, and also comes with three labels in case you don’t think you’ll remember what you put in which one. The set of three is on sale for $24.96 US from $29.99 US. Source: 7 Gadgets And so another Showcase of geektastic kitchen contraptions comes to a close. I had fun, and I hope you did, too!
