Mark Zuckerberg is Not Giving You Money

The fact that this is “news” makes me more than a little sad, but the truth is I’ve been seeing it shared on my Facebook feed as well. No, Mark Zuckerberg is not going to give you any of his money. That post going around asking you to copy and share for a chance to be given some of Zuckerberg’s billions is a hoax.

To be fair to those who were duped, it’s a well-timed hoax. Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan recently announced that they’re going to be donating 99 percent of their Facebook shares, so perhaps folks heard that in passing and connected it with the post going around.

It’s still a silly thing to fall for, especially considering these types of posts pop up quite often. If I’m remembering correctly, there was a similar post involving Bill Gates getting shared around not too long ago. Stop falling for it, people. It makes you look gullible, even if you write “lol probably fake but couldn’t hurt” alongside the post. It hurts the people who have to sift through all the shared posts just to get to the real stuff.
