Makers of FyreTV Suing Amazon Over Fire TV Dylan Duarte April 25, 2014 I was wondering if this would come up. Three years (and a few days) ago, I reviewed the FyreTV BoXXX Media Player, which was a streaming box dedicated to adult content. Even though it never exactly off, it managed to, uh, get the job done. Now, three years later, we have the Amazon Fire TV, Amazon’s entry into the streaming market that retains the “fire” name from its mobile brethren. WREAL, LLC, the makers of the FyreTV box, aren’t happy about Amazon’s little toy, which they say performs a very similar function to their box. Content aside, yes, they’re both streaming boxes. Oh, and then there’s the whole name thing. Wreal wants a jury trial and is bringing the charges of trademark infringement, false designation of origin, and unfair competition. This is an interesting situation. Amazon is a huge company and if they pull out all the stops, Wreal will have a hard time combating them in court. That said, the similar name is a glaring issue and could spell trouble for the online retail giant. via Tech Crunch Share This With The World!
