This is definitely different. And potentially creepy. But if you’re one of those people who has a hard time waking up (and boy do I resemble that remark), then it might be worth a try. After all, having a random stranger call you to wake you up might just be weird enough that it’ll definitely get you up and moving. And maybe, you know, changing your locks.

Not to worry, though. Apparently your phone number is not given to anyone doing the calling, it stays on Talk O’Clock’s servers. But you do have to give them your number. Since the app and service is apparently free, I have to wonder about telemarketers, because giving them your number negates being on any kind of a Do Not Call registry. That’s how my mind works.

Anyway, that’s the gist of it. You can use this with either iOS or Android, and as I said the app is a free download. It’s described as a peer-to-peer social alarm clock. Once you register and let it know what time you would like your wake-up call, other users will be able to view it and decide if they want to call you. If no one is available or wants to, then Talk O’Clock’s computer will call you instead. Presumably you also have the option of calling other users of the service. It may even be expected of you.
