It sure feels like LG keeps trying these new ideas and then immediately abandoning them shortly thereafter. Sometimes you just have to cut your losses and sometimes, moving forward with everyone else really is in your best interest. That seems to be the case now that we’re getting our first best look at the LG V30, thanks to a fairly highly-detailed leak.

The leaked photo of the not-yet-released LG V30 comes by way of Evan Blass once again and it more or less confirms a lot of what we were already expecting from the upcoming smartphone.

The new LG V30 will abandon the dual-screen configuration of the LG V20 and LG V10 that came before it, opting instead for a single 6-inch OLED screen. This screen will push its boundaries almost to every edge, not unlike the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+, practically eliminating the bezel on all sides. Almost. You’ll also notice the rounded corners on the screen, but it doesn’t quite look as curved as Samsung on the two sides.

As is the trend these days, the display on the LG V30 will be extra tall, boasting a 2:1 aspect ratio and taking on overall dimensions that are similar to that of the LG G6. There’s another example of abandoning new ideas, as the LG G6 ditched the modular tech of the LG G5, even though the whole modularity thing with MotoMods still looks like it’s moving forward with Motorola.

At the end of the day, the LG V30 could be one of the most compact and most refined smartphones from the Korean giant to date. And of course it’s rocking the dual camera on the back too, along with a circular fingerprint reader. We expect to see the LG V30 make its official debut in a couple weeks, so stay tuned!
