Whatever your reason for wanting to know what’s going on around your house when you’re not home, this should make you rest easier. Whether you’re afraid of break-ins or your teenager just got a new boyfriend/girlfriend, you can now play Big Brother from wherever you are. To be honest, it makes me feel a little creepy, but I can see the use for some people.

The app itself is free, but you’re going to have to shell out some money for the Logitech Alert security system (starting at $300.00 US). If you want to also be able to record the video feed, that will run you an additional $79.99. The complete system will be able to stream 720p HD video including sound. Two other Logitech services, Alert Web and Mobile Commander, will allow you to view previously recorded footage. I think I would recommend the extra cost for recording, or you’ll end up the most non-productive person at work sitting there constantly watching your house. Of course, if you then get fired, you won’t have further need of a security system, but that doesn’t seem like a good solution to your security issues.
