iPhone Desktop Handset May Help Prevent Cancer Beth Snyder July 5, 2011 I’m sure you’ve all seen the news stories that keep cropping up…cell phones cause cancer. Radiation to your brain. Always hold your phone away from your head, or use a headset instead. Or, you could get a handset like this one. This would actually work well for me for a completely different reason…I hate holding a cell phone to my head purely based on the fact that I was raised on real phones. I am incapable of holding a cell phone regardless of style between my shoulder and my head while I do something else with my hands without dropping it. Very frustrating. This might be called the iPhone Desktop Handset, but it will work with any phone that has a 3.5mm jack. Not only will this keep your phone (and all that radiation) away from the side of your head, it’ll make it much easier to talk while doing other things on your phone. Even if you’re not talking on it, the stand holds it steady at a convenient angle so you can use the touchscreen easier. There are even non-slip silicone pads on the bottom to prevent it walking away while you use it. The stand is made of anodized aluminum, and will hold a phone with or without a protective case. You can place your phone in it either vertically or horizontally. It measures 7 1/4″ long x 8″ wide x 3 1/4″ high, and weighs just one pound. As mentioned above, the handset connects via your phone’s 3.5mm headphone jack. It doesn’t charge your phone, but it does have space in the frame so you can use your own cord to charge it while it is mounted. The handset is powered with your phone’s battery, so you’ll probably want to do that. If you think you need one, you can pick it up for $59.95 US. Source: The Gadgeteer Share This With The World!
