As a near-complete klutz who is constantly dropping (and occasionally accidentally throwing) his phone, I appreciate whenever a manufacturer steps up a device’s base armor. Rumor has it that Apple maybe be dropping the colorful polycarbonate shells for the iPhone 6C in favor of a unibody metal casing.

This new iPhone would still have a 4-inch display when it launches in the first half of 2016. It’s being talked about as a “lower cost” iPhone, but I would think that a metal casing would actually cost more, which begs the question of whether I’m mistaken or someone misinterprated something.

Plastic iPhones haven’t necessarily been popular. Their high-end counterparts frequently outsell them, like how the iPhone 5s outsold the iPhone 5c three to one. All while the iPhone 6 tears up the smartphone charts in China. There are some who question whether the iPhone 6C will arrive at all, so we’ll just have to wait and see if it shows up and what it’s wearing.
