In December of last year, an explosion at one of the factories at Pegatron Corp, one of Apple’s part suppliers, killed four workers and injured over fifty – sending almost two dozen to the hospital with burns. Three months later, many of the workers are still horribly scarred. In an interview with NPR, one of the workers, a 24-year-old, was described as having the upper half of his face badly burned, making him look like he’s wearing a bright red mask. He worries that it’ll make it harder for him to find a wife.

This incident and the aftermath is just another sad chapter in the ongoing saga of poor overseas working conditions. These poor employees are just trying to make a living making iPad casing and now they might be disfigured for the rest of their lives.
