Instagram’s Boomerang Lets You Take 1-Second Videos Dylan Duarte October 22, 2015 News I’ve never been able to get boomerangs to work properly, but hopefully this one will be different. Boomerang is a new app from Instragram that allows users to take and share 1-second videos by combining five still photos. The app is available on both Android and iOS. The folks at Instagram clarified that these aren’t GIFs, so you won’t be able to share them around the web. They’ll only work with Instagram’s software and Facebook (Instragram’s parent company). According to Instagram, they were inspired by the “visual stories” that people tell using their service, and I’m curious to see what people can do with Boomerang. More hesitant than excited, but curious. You can already take video with Instagram, so it feels like between that and the still photos you have two very different mediums, and I just don’t know that Boomerang is going to add anything really unique to the palette.
