Home Security Made Easy: Wireless Doormat Alarm Beth Snyder July 12, 2011 This latest entry in the home security arena is one I can actually see a use for in multiple situations. What leaps to mind is several apartments I’ve had, where I live upstairs yet there is no door buzzer or bell for my apartment. The advent of cell phones has made that particular situation easier, but that was still my first thought. Of course, there is also the home security factor, which cannot be ignored. But primarily, I think I would use this as a remote doorbell. Or to make sure the neighbourhood kids aren’t doing something inappropriate on my porch. The pad is pressure-sensitive, and will sound an alarm when it is stepped on. It features three different chimes, and can be set for up to 120db. Installation is a snap…just lay it down at your door. You can place any existing doormat or carpet overtop of it and it’ll still work just fine, so you can keep your decor how you want it without having to make aesthetic concessions to security. It has a weatherproof Ip45 rating, up to a 100-foot range, and includes a 12v battery for the mat as well as a battery-operated remote to control on/off and which mode you want to use. The mat measures 2.8 x 9.4 x 11.4 inches and weighs just one pound. This is supposed to be available at the end of this month, for right around $27.00 US. Source: Red Ferret Share This With The World!
