Heineken Goes Viral for UEFA Champions League Final Michael Kwan May 20, 2013 If you were following along through the various social media channels, then you'll know that I recently returned from a trip through Europe. I ate croissants in Paris, I invaded the Colosseum in Rome and I got lost in the remarkably confusing back streets of Venice. My journey began in Amsterdam where one of the highlights of my trip was the so-called Heineken Experience. You could say that it's a museum, but that's not entirely true. The Heineken Experience is housed in what was once the Heineken brewery, walking you through some of the company's history, giving you insights into how the beer is brewed, and educating you on how to best enjoy the popular lager. One of the rooms was focused on Heineken's sponsorship of the UEFA Champions League. There was a foosball table and some interactive exhibits about the beautiful game and how Heineken is involved with it. Now, you might be wondering why I bring this up on what is supposed to be a gadget and digital lifestyle kind of blog. Well, even though soccer football is an old game and Heineken is an old company, both continue to evolve with the times and get enhanced in the 21st century. Heineken still takes out ads on television and such, but they also recognize the importance of reaching out to online audiences in this digital age. That's why it's nice to see them taking the "viral" approach with the upcoming UEFA Champions League final. In the video embedded below 'The Road to the Final', you'll follow the journeys of a man who has won tickets to the final match between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, but he has to somehow find his way halfway around the world in time to catch the game at Wembley in London. It takes on the familiar fun style of Heineken videos, but they've gone even further. When you reach the end of the video, you're treated to a free pinball game to play where you can compete for high scores with your friends. If you like beer, football, social media or all of the above, this video and game are worth checking out. Sponsored Post Share This With The World!
