Is it just me or do all product recalls these days have to do with batteries that are faulty in one way or another. Many of us got pretty excited with the GoPro Karma was announced in October. And while we may have gotten less excited after we were introduced to the even smaller DJI Mavic Pro, we were still gutted when GoPro had to recall their drone after some of them started falling out of the sky. They’ve since fixed the problem and the GoPro Karma is back… in a slightly altered form.

The original drone was recalled because the battery would inexplicably get slightly dislodged while flying. The Karma would lose power and come crashing out of the sky. If you didn’t want to try and fix the problem with some tape — yes, that’s what CEO Nick Woodman actually suggested — you can now get a properly functioning unit that will hopefully not drop like a fly out of the air.

The “new” GoPro Karma is practically identical to the version that was recalled, saved for one key difference. While the original worked with a Hero4, a Hero5, or a Hero5 session, the new one will only work with the Hero5 Black. That’s a little limiting and I’m not entirely sure why.

You can pick up a bundle that includes the Hero5 Black for $1,099.99 or one without the action camera (if you already have one) for $799.99. Find the Karma on the GoPro website, as well as at Best Buy and B&H. As of this writing, it has not yet been relisted on Amazon.
