As part of their Back to School event going on at their official store, Google is putting the original Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones on sale. The smaller Pixel is dropping from $649 to $524, for a savings of $125, while the XL model is dropping a whopping $200, from $769 to $569. And not only are you getting some pretty substantial savings, but Google is throwing in a free Daydream View Headset. When you pick up your Pixel, add the headset to your cart before purchase and the discount should be automatically applied at check out.

I know what you’re saying: “but Dylan, didn’t the Pixel have major supply issues?” It did! Those issues have been resolved now, and there are plenty of phones to go around. Now please save the rest of your questions until the article is finished.

According to everyone’s speculation, the Pixel 2 will arrive sometime in the next few months, which is important to know if you like to stay up-to-date on your technology. To some people, it feels silly to buy a phone, just to have it feel outdated shortly after purchase. However, for those looking to test the Pixel waters, this is certainly a good opportunity to do so while the technology is still pretty fresh. (Quick side note: according to some leaks, the Pixel 2 is not going have to a headphone jack, if you’re into that sort of thing).

The Google Pixel (and Pixel XL) was praised almost across the board, with the major complaints being the tired, iPhone-esque design and the price, the latter of which being somewhat rectified with this sale. Yes, your shoulders will be burdened with the mountains of shame that come from having a phone that’s a generation old, but it will still be a fantastic phone, and at a reasonable price.
