Summer is almost here. That means it’s time to hit the beach to play some volleyball and enjoy some tunes. You could go pint-sized with the Arctic Power and Arctic Sound solution, but what if you want to go bigger, both in size and in sound? For that, the Eton Soulra XL could be the ticket.

Look at this thing! The single biggest feature that differentiates this iPod/iPhone speaker dock with all the other is that relatively large 72 square-inch enhanced monocrystal solar panel. This will charge up the internal battery in five hours of sunlight, providing the same amount of playing time if you keep things at a reasonable volume. There are eight speaker drivers (two tweeters, two woofers, and four passive radiators) for a total of 22 watts of output with bass boost.

But if you’re playing tunes in the sun, you can’t really see your iPhone screen all that well. That’s why they’ve integrated an “anti-glare tinted iPod chamber.” Clever! Too bad it’s so bloody expensive. The Eton Soulra XL solar boombox is currently available for pre-order for a cool $300. Ouch!
