ECS Intros New INTEL H61 Series Motherboards Without the Sandy Bridge Issues

With the new B3 revision of the Sandy Bridge/Cougar Point chipsets rolling out, ECS is now rolling out the lower end 61 series boards. These new boards will come in six flavours: H61H2-M, H61H2-M2, H61H2-M3, H61H2-M5, H61H2-I2 and H61H2-A. Yes they are all numbered names to increase the confusion but all of them use Intel HD Graphics onboard and take the new LGA1155 Sandy Bridge processors. Further deciphering the names, you’ll see that the first four boards with an “Mx” designation will be Micro ATX while the one with the “Ix” designation will be mini ITX. The last board is a full sized ATX designated by a single “A”.

The boards will come with their eJIFFY, eBLU, eDLU and eSF utilities and will hit lower price points than their 67 series brethren. They will also be built specifically to power Sandy Bridge dual core chips like the new Core i3 LGA1155. Since Intel HD graphics and Quick Sync do a lot of the heavy lifting for video processing, this should be an overall decent budget solution for that second machine in the house.
