Being a very definite night person, I am always on the lookout for a new device that will make waking up on early work mornings easier. Not that getting up will ever be anything like “easy” for me, but at least I can make it a little less unpleasant. However, with this one, my twisted sense of humour can’t help but kick in. It vibrates the bed? Really? Am I the only one having Magic Fingers flashbacks? Maybe it’s just me.

Anyway, this is an alarm clock with a twist. You can dock quite a few devices (iPod mini; iPod nano 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G; iPod classic 4G, 5G, 5.5G, 6G; iPod touch 1G, 2G,3G, 4G; iPhone 1G, 3G, and 4 [AT&T and Verizon]), and the iLuv Vibe Plus Dual Alarm Clock will charge them as well. The bed shaker will vibrate a bed or pillow so even the soundest sleeper will be awakened (or at the very least have a very nice dream). In this instance, “bed shaker” refers to a speaker with controls for low, medium and high volume. Also contained on the shaker is a switch to control whether the sound comes from the shaker speaker, the main unit, or a combination of both. For the alarm sound you can choose either an actual alarm or music from your iDevice.

You can also use this to play music to put you to sleep. I would not recommend using the same music as what you wish to wake you up, but it’s up to you. On the base unit are treble and bass controls, so although it’s not a full mixer at least you can somewhat customize it to your particular taste. This isn’t just a standard alarm, though…you can program it to go off only certain days of the week, it synchs with the time on your iDevice, and you can choose from ten levels of brightness on the base unit.

MSRP is $99.99 US, but you can get one for as low as $51.97 (which is 48% off list price).
