COMPUTEX 2011 – MSI GT780R Notebook Ups Your Game Michael Kwan June 4, 2011 Got game? Want more game? MSI is catering to the gaming enthusiasts out there with the MSI GT780R, a gaming notebook with some serious horsepower to back up its serious personality. Shown off at Computex in Taipei, the GT780R — sometimes called the GT780(R) — is a 17.3-inch (1920×1080) laptop with Sandy Bridge Intel Core i7 under the hood. You get up to 16GB of RAM, along with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX560M CPU and a dual hard drive configuration. As has become the case with most premium notebooks from MSI, this one also gets its sound from Dynaudio along with a keyboard by Steelseries. The three zoned backlit keyboard adds that much more personality. In going hands on with the GT780R, I was impressed by the robust feel of the “island” style keyboard too. Naturally, you get a couple of USB 3.0 ports, along with USB 2.0, HDMI, eSATA, and VGA. Pricing will depend on your SKU of choice, but you can expect to spend about $1,500 to $2,200 for a GT780R.
