CES 2012 – Corsair Announces New Line of Solid-State Cache Drives

While we wait for SSDs to completely take over as the standard storage solution, the current market is still trying to find a way to increase adoption. The latest trend are small SSDs built with the intent of being used as a cache for a mechanical HDD. Corsair’s joins this trend with the new Accelerator Series.

If you have Intel Smart Response, an ICY Dock SSD cache unit, or some other way to use an SSD as a drive cache then the Accelerator Series may be what you need. The Accelerator Series comes in 30 GB, 45 GB, and 60 GB sizes for $69, $84, and $99 USD respectively.

These drives are engineered with a cache system in mind and designed to stand up to particular type of use. These drives are expect to be available in February with 3 year warranties. If this is how you planned to use an SSD, then this may be the solution you need with up to 5 times the performance of an HDD alone.
