The original Battlestar Galactica premiered in 1978 and was the quintessential cheesy sci-fi (and that was before they came to 1980’s Earth). The 2004 reboot remains one of the most popular sci-fi programs to grace television. Now Battlestar Galactica is getting rebooted again, this time as a motion picture.

The show ended just four years ago and while some people may think that’s a quick turnaround, that’s only a year less than it took Hollywood to reboot Spider-Man. Jack Paglen, writer of the upcoming Transcendence and Prometheus sequel, will write the script. Glen Larson, creator of the original Battlestar Galactica, will be producing.

Much like many sci-fi fans, I hold the Battlestar Galactica reboot in high regard while strongly disliking the finale, so I have a pretty good idea of what direction I’d like the film to take. For the sake of all of us who were let down, hopefully Paglen and Larson take the negative feedback from the finale into consideration while crafting this new take.
