While the standard iPhone 7 will have one rear camera, the same as most smartphones, it looks like the Apple iPhone 7 Plus may have two cameras on the back, with one designed specifically to take wide-angle shots. The other rear camera will use a 2x-3x telephoto lens. The cameras will have 12-megapixel sensors

The dual-camera model of the iPhone 7 Plus will likely be one of two models, the other being the standard single-camera iPhone 7 Plus. The dual-camera edition is likely a result of Apple’s acquisition of LinX, an Israel-based startup that was working on multi-camera modules. Apple picked up the company last April.

In addition to the extra camera, the cameras will likely offer improved low-light performance, reduced noise, and 3D depth mapping. The 3D depth mapping will be possible through the dual-camera setup. iPhone cameras have offered quality snapshots for (very) amateur shutterbugs for some time now, and the addition of wide-angle shooting and 3D elements will only make those users happier.
