AMD Processor Box Transforms into Box Art James White March 14, 2011 AMD’s current Marketing Department are either mad geniuses or just plan mad. I am having a hard time determining which one based on the most recently released information about the upcoming Bulldozer Processor lineup. I promised myself when I started writing for MegaTechNews that I would avoid this subject like it would give me the bubonic plague. I truly look forward to AMD’s lineup, but I don’t want it to blow out a kneecap carrying the weight of hype around. On the other hand, this new box art is a drastic change in appearance from the boxes of the past few years. The upcoming boxes seem like someone in marketing hired an artist to give their boxart a fresh new look, and the artist delivered big. My problems with the new boxart is a lack of the AMD green. Red is the primary color of their graphics offerings, not their processors. I am all for moving away from black being the dominant color, but what happen to the green that literally represents their company in its logo? Maybe they are saving the green for the A series (mainstream line) of processor boxart. I really didn’t plan on covering AMD’s Bulldozer line until I see actual numbers from the final product’s performance; however, this box did exactly what it was designed to do, grab my attention. I know the plan is to provide tidbits of information here and there to keep people talking about AMD and Bulldozer, but I hope AMD doesn’t over do it. I guess the only thing they can “leak” now is a brand new stock cooler design. Source: TechPowerUp! AMD FX 4-core processor AMD FX 4-core processor AMD FX 8-core processor Share This With The World!
