AMD Hands the CIO Reins to Mike Wolfe James White March 23, 2011 AMD announced on March 22nd they will be filling the CIO (Chief Information Officer) position with new hire Mike Wolfe. No I am not talking about the guy from American Pickers who I am sure knows very little about modern computers. Mr. Wolfe has over 30 years of experience under his belt working in this field. Most recently, Mr. Wolfe was serving as HP’s Vice President of IT for product development and engineering for the last five years. As the vice president and CIO for the Semiconductor product section of Motorola, he successfully consolidated business and manufacturing IT functions into a single central organization. At that time he was with Motorola for 24 years and worked his way up the company ranks to achieve the position. Mike Wolfe has a history of being a part of a company during their best days. This is obviously no stroke of luck, but the simple outcome of having Mr. Wolfe on your side. I hope he can bring AMD some much needed new blood and help to focus them in a direction of growth.
