Back in March, we attended the BCITSA Spring LAN Party in Burnaby. Now that all the students are back in school and all settled into their studies again, they need another major gaming break and that’s why the BCIT Student Association is throwing another LAN party this Friday, November 1. The aptly named Fall LAN and Video Game Party will once again take place at the BCIT campus in Burnaby, a suburb of Vancouver.

And yes, we’re coming back. We will once again be partnering up with our friends at Futurelooks to set up a “Gamers Lounge,” just as we did with the Tech Day in September. Canadian Joysticks will have a couple of setups for fighting games like Street Fighter and Divekick, giving the LAN partiers an opportunity to try out their range of fighting sticks and arcade stick accessories.

Also as part of the Gamers Lounge, we plan on setting up the AtGames Sega Genesis Classic Game Console with 40 awesome retro classics like Streets of Rage, Ecco the Dolphin and Altered Beast. Futurelooks will have their demo rigs setup for some PC gaming and you can learn more about those on their blog post for the event.

The main event presented by BCITSA will feature League of Legends, Starcraft II, Super Smash Bros and more. And yes, there are tournaments with awesome prizes. You don’t need to bring your own computer, as the labs will also be fully equipped. You should bring your own headset, though.

The BCIT Fall event is very much geared toward gaming on both consoles and PCs, but it is also an opportunity to learn about all sorts of tech. We will have the new Western Digital WD My Cloud personal cloud storage device on display and we hope to have the live demo up and running for that. If you’re looking to store terabytes of data in your personal cloud, this is a great way to do it.

The BCIT LAN and video game party is set to start at 5:30pm on Friday and it’ll run until about 10:30pm on the third floor of the SE12 building at the BCIT Burnaby campus. There are tournament and raffle prizes for everyone who attends, including a Roam Mobility mobile hotspot with service, a Western Digital portable hard drive, some great SteelSeries accessories, and ADATA USB products. You can pre-register for $7 online or register at the door for $10. Registration includes a burger, sides and a can of pop, so you don’t have to worry about packing your dinner.

Check the official Facebook event page for more details and we’ll see you there!
