Those of you who have a smartphone are painfully aware of how fast they burn through batteries, and you also know that depending on where you are, charging them is not always the most convenient task.

What this consists of is a very thin chip of crystals inserted into the sole of the shoe, that actually creates power simply by using the energy created when the shoe’s sole flexes. The energy can be stored for later use to charge your phone. Of course, you can also charge while you’re wearing the shoes, since you can attach your phone to the shoe while its in your pocket via a thin, flexible cable.

The best part? You can insert the chip into virtually any shoe with a sole, which means you don’t have to have a shoe like the one pictured above. It’s really pretty brilliant, actually…all you have to do is walk, run or jog as you normally would, and you generate enough power to keep your phone charged. It’s still just a concept at the moment, but there is already talk of this hitting the market relatively soon at a price point of just about $45.00 US.
