Viacom Sues Google For $1 Billion

Major media company Viacom intends to sue Google for copyright infringement on the grounds that its YouTube property knowingly lets users violate the law. Whereas the two companies were about to make a large deal last year, the negotiations ended when Google acquired YouTube, which is now at the center of the dispute, as the website contains some 160,000 video clips from Viacom properties.
Viacom has mounted the biggest challenge yet to the Internet’s most popular and wildly successful Web sites, filing a $1 billion lawsuit against YouTube and its parent company Google that could have far-reaching effects on online commerce.
