That’s right. It was only yesterday that we announced the winner to the first ever contest on MegaTechNews and we are already launching another one. What can we say? We like to give away free stuff!

Following up on our Wicked Wednesday Giveaway, we’ve got a Travelling Techie Thursday Giveaway. It also happens to be St. Patrick’s Day, so you might be enjoying the luck of the Irish!

What You Can Win

In case you couldn’t figure it out from the image at the top and the title of this post, we’re happy to give away a Balanzza Mini Luggage Scale. This handy little contraption helps you weigh your luggage before you board the plane; this way, you can avoid those nasty overweight charges that the airlines can levy.

How to Enter

We want to keep things simple. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post describing your worst travel story. Give us your absolute worst horror story, whether it be related to delayed flights, sub-par food, or inordinately unexpected fees and charges by the airline. We’ll take it all.

It needs to be a true story, but we obviously have no way to verify that. Keep it honest, folks!

After we get all the entries, we’ll be picking a winner at random.

The contest is open for one week only. All entries must be received by March 24, 2011 at 12:00pm noon PDT (Pacific). We’ll ship the prize to pretty much anywhere in the world with reasonable postal service.

    Worst travel story? Drove about 4 hours to Dallas, went to a club with friends (they didn’t tell me it was a gay club until we got there), left the club, ate breakfast, then drove another 4 hours to Fort Smith, AR, then turned around and drove back a few hours later. Had a great time, but the awake time was miserable…wish I could remember it. Heh.

    When I was a child, our family took the VIA Rail train from Vancouver to Golden BC. On our return trip, the train was so late, 13 hours late! Back then, the train station in Golden was a tiny shack with nothing except washrooms and no one working for the train company there, it was just a building to wait in. Since we didn’t know when the train would arrive, one of us always had to wait there if the train came. So we would take turns going to 7-11 getting food/drinks! It was a tiny tiny town, on a Sunday so nothing at all was open except the 7-11. We were not impressed when the train finally arrived, no apology from them! Needless to say, we haven’t taken the train since :)

    We were taking a small plane home after a trip to the island and got caught in a horrible storm! The plane couldn’t land and we were circling around amongst the clouds for 45 minutes, the turbulence was horrible, we almost hit the trees a few times and we didn’t think we would land in one piece! What was supposed to be a 20 minute flight turned into an hour and a half…but we did make it :)

    When I was young our family went on a road trip to New Brunswick. My sister’s and I all felt sick and since dad wouldn’t pull over for a break, we upchucked all over the back seat of the car. Dad started cursing and by the time he finally did pull over the car smelled like hell.

      My worst horror travel story is a delayed international flight. We arrived 3 hours before the scheduled flight time. Then waited at the gate for another 2 hours due to some technical issues with the aircraft. After boarding, we sat in the plane for another hour waiting for more repairs. Then we were escorted off the airplane because we had to switch aircrafts!! The airline did give us dinner vouchers but our flight was delayed a total of 6 hours. And this was before a 13 hour flight. That was a long day.
