If anyone actually purchases the $169 Rokstand for their iPad, I think it’s a safe bet that they’re compensating for something. It’s made from 6061 T-6 Billet Aluminum and features high-speed bearings, non-slip contact surface rings, and six different angles of adjustment. I’m assuming you could also fend off an attacker with it, or maybe even kill a bear. Oh, and for those looking to help the troubled U.S. economy, the Rokstand is American made.

I just don’t get it. It doesn’t even look nice. It has a certain erector set charm to it, sure, but when compared to the sleek design of the iPad, it looks ridiculous. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the hard work and the craftsmanship, but this is by no means a practical product. To be fair, it would probably last a lot longer than a cheap iPad stand, but would it last longer than the dozen cheap iPad stands that you could buy for the same price?
