The World’s Smallest Implantable Medical Battery

Vancouver-based Canadian firm EaglePitcher Medical Power has announced the release of what they claim to be the “World’s Smallest Implantable Medical Battery.” The tiny cylinders (6.6mm x 2.3mm) are are not only half the size, but also half the weight of the current batteries used for implanted medical devices. With an expected lifespan of about 15 years, this battery is still undergoing clinical trials and should be commercialized in the near future.
