Last night it snowed. We have gotten incredibly spoiled this year what with the temperatures sitting around 40F pretty consistently (which is about 20-30 degrees warmer than normal) and really only four snow “events”. As I was heading home last night, it started, and now we’ve got about six inches on top of a nice layer of ice. Which means schools are closed, businesses are closed, community events are cancelled…basically, the sky is falling. And I have to think: When we were kids, six inches of snow meant simply that we had to shovel. We still went to school. We still had basketball games. We still had to go to work. These days it’s like the world ends every time there’s a little bit of snow on the ground. What’s up with that? Have we become so afraid of nature that we can’t handle a little snow? I may hate it with a mad passion, but it doesn’t cause my world to end.
