Well, I did it. I’ve got an appointment with the surgeon next Wednesday during which she will do the blood test to make sure I wasn’t fibbing about quitting smoking and we will discuss the surgery and with any luck at all schedule it. I really, really wanted to wait at least another month so my income wouldn’t take such a huge hit, but physically it’s simply got to happen sooner rather than later. As a good friend said to me last night, short-term it’s going to suck a lot, but I’ve gotten myself through some rocky patches before. Long-term it’s going to be better for me to have it done so it doesn’t get worse or cause me to permanently lose work instead of temporarily. So we’re looking at a fairly lean Christmas this year, but that’s happened before as well. So be it, I guess.
