Today I go to my follow-up appointment with the surgeon, during which I am supposed to get the temporary cast removed and the real one put on. In a very sick, wrong and twisted way, I am looking forward to it even though I know it’s going to hurt. Because not only will it get me out of the house, but once I have the real cast I will be allowed to leave for things other than doctor’s appointments. Still won’t be allowed to walk (or even so much as rest my foot on the floor) until about mid-February, but at least I can sort-of go back to work. Not the majority of my job, of course, but hockey games. I can live with that.
