I had to do something to distract myself from the horribleness that is our local NBC affiliate’s broadcast. For the second year, they have created a studio inside the art museum downtown in the nearest city, to report on this city-wide art festival/competition thing we do. Also for the second year, I am mortified by how unprofessional or at the very least incapable their sound engineers are. Maybe it’s because I work in the entertainment industry, but it doesn’t seem like it should be so hard to lose the echoes of the anchors sitting at the desk, or to ensure that the outdoor audio feed doesn’t crackle and cut in and out, and certainly it shouldn’t be an issue to prevent the delay echo from their outdoor speakers from being picked up by the microphones while people are actively talking. At least, those things are never present in the events I work, regardless of their location. *sigh*
